Obituary

William A. Grissom, age 88 of East Prairie, Missouri passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.  He was born April 5, 1933, in East Prairie to the late Thomas Grissom and Pearl Osman Grissom and was a retired police officer.  William served ten years in the United States Air Force, and was a veteran of the Korean War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in East Prairie.

William was married to Shirley Lockridge Grissom, who survives of the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Jeffery William (Janet) Grissom of Perryville, Missouri; two daughters, Cindy (Joe) Brownfield of Uniontown, Ohio and Michelle (Dennis) Braithwaite of Boyce, Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Col. Thomas Grissom.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021, beginning at 12 noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Steve Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
