Obituary

Wanda Dee Counts, age 81, of East Prairie, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living in East Prairie. Wanda was born April 22, 1945, in Gideon, MO, to the late Wade Harper and Lillian Cora Pearson Harper. Wanda was first and foremost a great Mother, Wife and Grandmother. She worked as a homemaker her entire life. No matter what, she always made sure we were taken care of and loved to no end. She had the greatest laugh and the prettiest smile. She always made you feel special and loved. No matter how she felt, you came first.

She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Henry Phillip Counts. Her boys, Robert (Kathy) Counts of Whitewater, MO, Danny (Cheryl) Counts of Cape Girardeau, MO, Mark (Cindy) Counts of Dogwood, MO, Jimmy (Christina) Counts of East Prairie, Jason (Edie) Counts of East Prairie. Her only daughter, JoAnne (Dink) Woods of Burkley, KY.

Her grandsons, Brian (Shelby) Woods of Bardwell, KY, Dakota Counts of Kansas City, MO, Phillip (Hannah) Woods of Paducah, KY, Lucas Counts of Cape Girardeau, MO, Tanner Counts of Dogwood, MO. Special grandson, Zayne Hurst of Arkansas.

Her granddaughter, Shelby Counts of Dogwood, MO.

Her great grandchildren, Braelynn and Drake Woods of Bardwell, KY.

Special great granddaughter, Lillian of East Prairie, MO.

Also, special friends of her sons that she thought of as her own, Paul Krauss, Freddie Constance, Todd Gregory, Dickie Jordan, Robert Easley.

Also surviving are her three brothers, Delbert (Rose) Harper and Philbert (Linda) Harper of Sikeston, MO, Herbert Harper, address unknown. Three sisters, Wilma Counts of East Prairie, Wilsie (Jim) Evans of Morehouse, MO, Colleen Hon of South Carolina. Several special nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Chester Ray Harper, Robert Wade Harper and Albert Glenn Harper.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Caudle-Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. George White officiating.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
