Walter Howard Wells Sr., age 78, passed away December 18, 2023 at his home in Essex, Missouri.

He was born February 5, 1945 in Valley Park Missouri, son of the late Lloyd Wells and Pearl Farley Wells.

Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching western movies, making jewelry, and spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Wells of the home; four sons, Walter (Shannon) Wells Jr. of Doniphan, Missouri, Walter (Jessica) Wells III of Essex, Missouri, Floyd (Sherry) Wells of East Prairie, Missouri, and Gino (Shalechia) Wells of Doniphan, Missouri; three brothers, Lonnie Wells of Centerville, Missouri, Eugene (Robin) Wells of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Herman Wells of Sikeston, Missouri; one sister, Betty Swiney of Bertrand, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Wells, and one sister, Flora Baker.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 26, from 12:00 noon to 2 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m., Roger Turner will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Mount Gilead Cemetery in Clarkton, Missouri.
