Veda Pauline Vaught, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau, MO with family at her side.

She was born in Matthews, Missouri December 29, 1933 to the late Oscar and Mary (Douglas) James. She was a homemaker and worked at the Sikeston High School in the Cafeteria.  She married Paul E Vaught, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by four sons, Gary Vaught, Robert Michael (Nikki) Vaught, Paul Neal (Silvia) Vaught, all of Sikeston, Missouri as well as Richard (Shelia) Vaught of Jackson, Missouri; one brother, Clifford William James of Arnold, Missouri; two sisters, Wanda Marie Tidwell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Naomi Ruth Landsness-Mayberry of Concord, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren, Kimberly Britton, Natalie Vaught, Amber Vaught, Amanda Tucker, Nicole Goetz, Ryan Beaird, Stacey Stark, Gabe Vaught, Harmony Carrano, Dakota Trevino, Heather Hawkins, Anna-Lena Hansen, Dominique Hansen, Mackenzie Vaught, Cassie Vaught, Kaleigh Stafford and twenty great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, John David Vaught; four brothers, Cecil William James, Charlie Thomas James, Walter Odell James "W.O.", James Louis James "J.L." and three sisters, Minnie Saralee Marcy, Mary Etta Barnes and Linda Sue Alliston.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home chapel in Sikeston, Missouri; where the funeral will be held Thursday December 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri.

The family ask that a mask be worn to ensure everyone's safety, masks are recommended but not required.
