Travis
O'Neal
December 3, 1940 – January 31, 2024
Travis Eugene O'Neal, age 83, passed away January 31, 2024 at his home in Sikeston, MO.
He was born December 3, 1940 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, son of the late Omer O'Neal and Ivern Goodman O'Neal.
Travis had a long career with the United States Postal Service, where he retired from in 2000. He was a devoted member of Matthews Church of Christ, and enjoyed sharing the word of God.
He never met a stranger, made friends with every waitress he ever met, he loved music, singing, and playing guitar, fishing, bowling, traveling, collecting coins, and watching his grandkids and great-grandkids activities. He loved to tell a story, and he was quick with one liners. He loved kids and always had a magic trick ready for them. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Travis loved his dog, Taffy, and spending time with his family. He always had a smile on his face and loved giving the best hugs.
Travis' first marriage was to Ada Nolan on February 3, 1960. That marriage resulted in two daughters and a son.
On May 23, 1987, he married Belva Thompson, who preceded him in death on August 19, 2020.
Survivors include one son, Ken (Christy) O'Neal of Benton, MO; two daughters, Penny Owen and Connie (Gary) Riley, both of Sikeston, MO; one brother, Allen O'Neal of Kennett, MO; three grandchildren, Kenny (Jessica) O'Neal of Paducah, KY, Chasity Clark of Sikeston, MO, and Sara (David) Russell of Kennett, MO; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaela Clark, Kyler Mitchell, Hayden Clark, Maddox O'Neal, Dalton Russell, Kennedy O'Neal, Payton Russell, and baby Russell.
Travis was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph O'Neal, and one son-in-law, Randy Owen, as well as other beloved relatives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Matthews Church of Christ.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood cemetery at Dogwood, MO.
Pallbearers will be Kenny O'Neal, Gary Riley, David Russell, Kyler Mitchell, Maddox O'Neal, and Donnie Folkes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Zorbas and Wayne Elliott.
