Tommy Upchurch

Tommy Gene "Tootsie" Upchurch, age 85 of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at his home.  He was born March 4, 1936, in Lake County, Tennessee to the late Bonnie and Helen Powell Upchurch.  He retired from Mississippi County Highway Department and was of Baptist faith.  Tommy loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was married to Anna Dean Lowry Upchurch; she preceded him in death on December 5, 2010.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Fitzgerald Upchurch of East Prairie; one daughter,  Theresa (Jimmy) Barnett of Union City, Tennessee; one sister, Mildred Parson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Michelle (Scottie) Hayes, Trina (Flynn) Ray, Stephanie (Dameon) Rinks, Rocquelle (C .J.) Morrison, John David (Shannon) Fisher and Shelby Grubbs; and eleven great grandchildren, Anna Ray, Evy Ray, Jace Fisher, Cayden Fisher, Colin Davis, Blade Morrison, Davis Hayes, Hudson Hayes, Ella Hayes, David Rinks and Lila Rinks.

In addition to his wife and parents, Tommy was preceded in death by one daughter, Terri Lynn Adams; two brothers, Dwight Upchurch and Joe Upchurch; and two sisters, Dorothy Ray and Mary Helen West.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Flynn Ray, Richard Wallace, Bubbie Gammons, John David Fisher, Davis Hayes and Scottie Hayes.
