April 1, 1949 – June 24, 2024
Terry Ransom, Sr.,75, was called from his earthly home to eternity on Monday, June 24, 2024, at his home in Sikeston, MO, surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1949, in Arcola, MS, to the late Florence Maiden Ranson and Jerry Carter. He was one of nine children.
Terry's family relocated to Missouri in the early 1960s, where he continued his education. He graduated from Richland High School in 1969, a testament to his dedication and hard work.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Doris Jean Willis on October 25, 1969.
He then joined the Army in 1970, a decision that reflected his sense of duty and service. He received an honorable discharge with service medals. After returning from the Army, he began working at Noranda Aluminum, where he remained for thirty years until retirement.
He later found his religion in Jehovah and joined the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses under the leadership of Elder Joe Hill from 2023 until his passing.
Terry enjoyed playing cards and basketball growing up. He also loved baseball; whenever you visited Terry, you could find him watching baseball games in front of the television.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a set of twins, and five brothers.
Terry leaves to cherish his fond memories, a testament to the love and support he received from his family. He is survived by two daughters, Sherry and Yolanda Ranson of Sikeston, MO, two sons, Terry Ranson, Jr. and Christopher Howard of Sikeston, MO, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a special niece/daughter that he helped raise Delois (Mike) Hatcher-Hunt, two sisters, Alice Mae Hatcher and Willie Mae Ranson-McCray both of Sikeston, MO, one brother, (his twin) Perry Ranson of Chicago, Il, and a host of brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.
