Obituary

Terry Lloyd Hawkins, age 82, passed away September 19, 2024 at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, MO.

He was born September 6, 1942 in Lilbourn, MO, son of the late Paul B. Hawkins and Delphia Lloyd Hawkins.

Terry was a lifelong and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Lilbourn. He worked as a service man for Associated Natural Gas/Liberty Utilities for 35 years before retiring in 1997. On the side, he was a lawn mower, trash man, song leader, grain inspector for the state of Missouri, custodian of the church, former Fire Chief of Lilbourn, Scout Master of Troop 50, Municipal Judge in Lilbourn and Parma, City Alderman, Election Judge, and worked mowing yards just this past spring.

He was a loving father and grandfather and never met a stranger. He loved going out to eat and visit with people. Anyone that met him remembered him for his kind heart.

On November 25, 1962 he was married to Peggy Ann Richards Hawkins, they were married 60 years before she preceded him in death on December 29, 2022.

Survivors include one son, Dewayne Hawkins (Samantha Cartwright) of Sikeston, MO; one son-in-law, Ted Linn of Springfield, MO; one brother, Charles Curtis (Pamela Jean) Hawkins of Huntsville, TX; three grandchildren, Logan (Heather) Hawkins, Landon (Callie) Hawkins, and Londyn Hawkins; and two great-grandchildren, Remi Hawkins and Gunner Hawkins.

In addition to his wife and parents, Terry was preceded by one daughter, Margaret Ann Linn; and five brothers, Phillip Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins, Darrell Hawkins, Collin Hawkins, and Calvin Hawkins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Lilbourn, where funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. Brother Gene Lancaster and Brother Allen Nichols will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn, MO under the direction of Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Logan Hawkins, Landon Hawkins, Dewayne Hawkins, Ted Linn, Dewayne Stanley, and Kenny Joe Schaffer.

The Hawkins family would like to thank Clearview Nursing Center and Preferred Hospice for their exceptional care, they were so kind and helpful. Also to thank his dialysis staff, nurses, techs, and secretary for always being so kind and helping him.
