Steve Lynn Myers passed away peacefully at his home in East Prairie, MO, on March 14, 2025, at the age of 69. He was born on February 23, 1956, to Charles Leonard and Opal Ann Wilburn-Myers in the close-knit farming community of Mississippi County, MO. A lifelong resident of East Prairie, Steve was a familiar and friendly face around town.

Born into a farming family, Steve inherited a deep passion for agriculture, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. His dedication and hard work were evident in everything he did. He grew up attending the Assembly of God Church, where he worshiped alongside his parents during his younger years.

When he wasn't working on the farm or attending church, Steve could often be found on the football field or basketball court. His love for sports led him to become a referee for 15 years, and he later served as a certified observer for MSHSAA football. His commitment to the community extended beyond sports-he served two terms on the East Prairie City Council and was a dedicated board member for the East Prairie School District.

Steve also had a gift for storytelling and a passion for journalism, which led him to a role at the Eagle Courier, where he enthusiastically covered local sports. Later in life, his greatest joy came from watching his granddaughter, Olivia, cheer and play volleyball. Now, he has the best seat in the house.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jonathan Hayes, and his cherished granddaughter, Olivia Hayes.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and community members who supported Steve over the years, especially following his accident. They also appreciate the compassionate care provided by his home health workers and the companionship he received during his appointments.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, MO, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Steve. A private cremation service will be held for the family at a later date.
