Steven Arnold Baker Jr., of East Prairie, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born August 20, 1972, in Sikeston, Missouri to Steven Arnold Baker, Sr. of Sikeston and Connie Kae (Carlyle) Crocker of East Prairie. Steven was a United States Army veteran, having served during Operation Desert Storm. He was employed by Potashnick Transportation (PTI) in Sikeston, where he was a dispatcher. He enjoyed his job, as he thought a lot of the truck drivers, many of whom became his close friends. He spent his spare time playing truck driving video games on his phone. Most of all, he loved being with family and playing with his grandchildren. He had attended New Beginnings Church in East Prairie and was of Pentecostal belief.
On August 20, 1993, he married Sondra Lynn Burrell Baker, who survives of the home. They were planning to celebrate thirty years of marriage this year.
Additional survivors include one son, Sonny Austin Baker of East Prairie; one daughter, Stephanie Lynn (Baker) Jordan of East Prairie; four brothers, Galon Baker, Justin Baker and Tommy Crocker, all of East Prairie and David Baker of Sikeston; one stepsister, Maryann Phillips; and two special grandchildren, Oaklynn Mae Jordan and Avery Rae Jordan.
Steven was preceded in death by twin grandsons, William Bentley Jordan and David Isaiah Jordan; his Grandpa P.L. Carlyle, Grandma Bonnie Carlyle, Grandpa Arnold Baker and Grandma Pat Baker.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Randy Eskew, pastor of New Beginnings Church, officiating.
His wife and children will have a private burial service at Dogwood Cemetery at a later date, per Steve's wishes.
