Steven Arnold Baker Sr., age 74, passed away August 12, 2026, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.

He was born June 28, 1952, in Sikeston, MO, son of the late Arnold Baker and Patricia Arington-Baker.

Steven was a member of Smith Avenue Church of God; he felt God brought him and his wife to this church and he loved his church family. He was a proud and patriotic veteran of the U.S. Army who loved his country very much; where he earned numerous awards, National Defense Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal (1st award), Sharpshooter Badge, and Expert Badge Grenade. He worked as a Custodian for East Prairie Elementary School, and he was the owner of Haas Pastry Route before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors related. He loved watching Westerns, and restoring antique furniture. He loved cooking and spending time with his family, as much as he loved his country he loved his family more. Time with his wife, children, and grandchildren was the most important thing to him.

On November 14, 1986 at Wickliffe, KY he was married to Debra Husketh-Baker, she survives of the home in Sikeston, MO.

Other survivors include three sons, Galon and Terra Baker, David and Jessica Baker, and Justin Baker; one daughter, Mary Ann and Garry Phillips; one brother, Danny and Cheryl Baker; one sister, Melinda and Randy Cave; 20 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded by one son, Steven Baker Jr.; and one brother, Mike Baker.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 17, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Smith Avenue Church of God. Pastor Mike Mahurin will officiate.

Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery in East Prairie, MO with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Lawson Baker, Landon Baker, Kaleb Curry, Colby Curry, Brayden Emerson, and Tyler McClinton.

Memorial donations may be made to Smith Avenue Church of God.
