February 24, 1929 – October 5, 2024
Shirley Ross Chambers, born February 24, 1929 in Anniston, MO went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2024. He was a member of the Anniston Christian Church and the owner of East Prairie Electric for many years. He loved his work and the people he came in contact with.
On June 12, 1948 he married his high school sweetheart, Geneva "Lois" Chambers. Their love for each other is still going strong after 76 years together.
Shirley is survived by his wife, Lois Chambers; his daughter, Rhonda Wiedman (John); three grandsons, Cary, Bradley (Danika) and Blake (Brenna); five great grandchildren, Catherine Wiedman-Smirnov (Anton), Oliver Wiedman, Tait Wiedman, Caroline Wiedman and Jack Wiedman; and one great-great granddaughter, Sylvie Smirnov.
Shirley was admired by his family and many friends for his kindness and big heart. A man of outstanding character, he was always there to help others no matter the need and, in turn, they were always there for him. A man of faith, he was devoted to watching his four sermons every Sunday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Chambers and Emma Pollock Chambers; six brothers, T.J. and L.J. Chambers, Lester Chambers (Sue), Ben Chambers (Lucy), Billy "Red" Chambers (Bobbye), Charles Winston "Winks" Chambers (Mildred); and one sister, Margie Chambers Ahlfield (Victor).
Visitation will be Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Bro. Sonny Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow in Anniston Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Cary Wiedman, Bradley Wiedman, Blake Wiedman, Reggie Ahlfield, Danny Ahlfield , and Trevor Ahlfield.
The family requests memorials be sent to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
