Obituary

Samuel Harrison Tanner, passed away peacefully, February 21, 2026 in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by his family.

Born July 19, 1935 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Henry Harrison Tanner and Ethyl Dunn Tanner of Sikeston, Missouri.

Sam is survived by his wife of 49 years, Retha Tanner of the home in Maumelle; sons Richard R. Tanner (Susan) of Sherwood and Robert S. Tanner (Polly) of Little Rock; one step-daughter Michelle R. King of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a long-time employee of Southern Farmers Association & Farmland Industries. He is a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Scimitar Shrine Temple.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 28 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Missouri.

Interment will follow at the Sikeston City Cemetery.

The Tanner family wants to extend their appreciation to their cousin, Tom Richey, for all his help during this difficult time.
