Sadie Mae Irby, age 87 of Sesser, IL, formerly of Knob Lick, MO and East Prairie, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Helia Healthcare Center in Benton, IL. She was born September 25, 1935, in Mississippi County, MO to the late Audie Polston and Hattie Marie Cravens Polston.  She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Knob Lick for many years.  Sadie later was employed by the East Prairie School System until her retirement.  She was of Pentecostal faith.

She married J.R. Irby on April 8, 1951, in Piggott, AR.  He preceded her in death December 20, 2003.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles (Loretta) Polston of Sesser, IL and Tommy (Shelley) Polston of Roy, UT; and one sister, Anna (Bill) Durham of Lawton, OK.

Sadie was preceded in death by one sister and her husband, Carolyn and Dennis Heath.

Graveside services will be held Monday, September 18, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Dogwood Cemetery, with Bro. Martin Lucas officiating.
