Ronald Dale Borders (Ron), son of the late Dale and Jean Borders, was born July 21, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, MO and he went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2021, at the age of 78.

Ron grew up in Campbell, MO, and spent most of his life in Sikeston, MO. Ron resided in Cape Girardeau, MO for the past six years. Ron was married to Connie Jean (Griffin) Borders of Cape Girardeau, MO. Ron graduated from Malden High School in 1960 and attended Southeast Missouri State University. Ron was a powerhouse in the insurance industry running Scott County Farmers Mutual and presiding as president over the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (MAMIC) for decades. Ron was presented MAMIC's Lifetime Achievement Award upon his partial retirement in 2018.

Ron was of the Christian faith and held steadfast to his Heavenly Father all through his life. Ron was the most kind, gentle, and generous man that you could ever know.  He gained respect from all he encountered and left positive imprints wherever he went. Family was very precious to Ron, and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything. Ron was an avid sports fan, especially his beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Ron achieved success, lived well, laughed often, and loved much. He enjoyed the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children. He filled his niche and accomplished his tasks. He left the world better than he found it. He always looked for the best in others and gave them the best he had. His life was an inspiration and his memory a benediction.

Ron is survived by two daughters, Deneke' Borders Murphy (Ken) of Cape Girardeau, MO and Tyra Henson (Rob) of Dexter, MO; two sons, Chad Borders (Sherilyn) and Shay Borders (Lisa), both of Cape Girardeau; one stepson, Brent King (Bobbi) of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Joe Borders (Patty) of Campbell, MO; one sister, Debbie Chroust (Dave) of Batavia, IL. Ron had 15 grandchildren: Cory Borders, Cody Borders, Brooke Borders, Blake Borders, Morgan Murphy, Hanna Borders, Clay Henson, Connor Murphy, Colton Borders, Griffin King, Cameron Borders II, Brady Murphy, Chayton Borders, Quinton Borders, and Chase Borders, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by one son, Kyle Borders (Theresa) of Dexter, MO.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Interment will follow immediately at the Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie, MO.
