Robert Allen Shively, 87, of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on July 28, 2026. He was born on January 14, 1939, to the late Andrew and Vera Shively.

Robert, affectionately known as Papa, was a man who loved deeply. His family was his greatest accomplishment, and the life he built with his beloved wife, Wilma, was at the heart of everything. He also loved growing a garden and took great pride in tending it, watching it grow, and sharing what he raised with those he loved.

Robert and Wilma married on September 11, 1959, and shared 53 years together. They raised two sons, Robert Jr. and David, and watched their family grow through the generations. Losing Wilma left a place in his heart that could never be filled, and his family finds comfort in believing that they are together once again.

Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a Company Commander and signalman. Throughout his military service, he received many awards and recognitions, including the distinguished honor of being named Amphibian of the Year, reflecting his dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving his country.

He is survived by his son, David Shively; granddaughters, Amanda Shively-Bell and Michelle Woods; great-grandchildren, Ryan Simmons, SGT Andrew Driskill, Victoria Long, Natalie Rhinehart, Joshua Rhinehart, Maverick Bell, and Coralee Bell; great-great-grandchildren, Colton Long, Drake Long, and WillaKlair Long; and sisters, Linda (Shively) Brown and Carolyn (Shively) Macky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Vera Shively; his beloved wife, Wilma; his son, Robert Allen Shively Jr.; five sisters; and two brothers.

Papa leaves behind more than a name or a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind a family that exists because of the life and love he and Wilma shared. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, with a part of him carried forward in each generation.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, where Robert will be laid to rest.
