Obituary

Ray "Gene" Cade, age 84, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at his home in East Prairie, Missouri.  He was born June 22, 1939, in Henderson Mounds, Missouri, to the late Benny Frank Cade and Emma Francis Buttry Cade.  He was employed in the trucking industry for over 50 years and was the owner of Gene Cade Trucking.  His hobbies included coon hunting, deer hunting, fishing, and mechanic work.  He was well known throughout the community and will be missed by many.

On December 27, 1957, in Corinth, Mississippi, he married Jo Ellen Alsup and she preceded him in death December 11, 2016.

Gene is survived by one son, Thomas Gene Cade of East Prairie; two grandchildren, Thomas Gene II (Tommy) and Teri Cade of East Prairie and Jacob Ray and Victoria Cade of East Prairie; eight great grandchildren, Mason Cade, Wyatt Irby, Hutsen Cade, Isley Cade, Trea Cade, Shelbie Shockley, Braylan Cade and Remi Cade; one great-great granddaughter, Ace-Lyn Aycock; a special cousin, Lynn Ray of Sikeston, Missouri; and many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Sonny Jackson officiating.

Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Cade, Jacob Cade, Wyatt Irby, Trea Cade, Braylan Cade, Mason Cade, and Hutsen Cade.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Counts, Ricky Alvey, and Billy McIntosh.
