Ramona Jean Yates, age 92, died September 17, 2021, at Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Missouri.
She was born October 21, 1928 in Paragould, Arkansas, daughter of the late Harmon Franklin Maag and Hester Rowena Bales Maag.
She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and member of WMU, and was a member of Sikeston Art League where she won many art awards.
On September 23, 1950 in Piggott, Arkansas, she married Orville Yates; he preceded her in death May 31, 2011.
She is survived by two sons, David Yates and Kenny (Jane) Yates of Sikeston; one daughter, Jan (Ron) Mason of Sikeston; one brother, Gale Maag of Paragould, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jimmy Mason, Bethany Sain, Ashley (Bryant) Brewer, and Jared Yates; and four great-grandchildren, Lily Sain, Noah Mason, Mackenzie Mason, and Annabelle Brewer.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry T. Maag and Charles E. Maag; four sisters, Marcella Camp, Minnie Tarvin, Wanda Lewis, and Joanne Maag; and one grandson, Ronnie Mason.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 24, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. Brother Bob Houchins will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Yates, Jared Yates, Noah Mason, Bryant Brewer, Robert Medlock, and Gary Powell.
