Obituary

Perry I. Curtis, age 85, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born August 12, 1935 in Portageville, Missouri, son of the late A.R. and Ollie Winters Curtis.

Perry was of the Protestant faith and had been part owner of Curtis Brothers Cement Contractors in Aurora, Illinois before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Local 638 of Aurora, Illinois, and had been a member of the Sikeston Eagles Club.

He was married to Thelma Tubbs Curtis, she survives of the home in Sikeston.

He is also survived by one daughter, Cynthia Cooper of Sikeston; two brothers, Cletus 'Pete' Curtis of Matthews, Missouri and Don (Linda) Curtis of Sikeston; two sisters, Ruby Silverthorn of Sikeston and Barbara Lasters of Oran, Missouri; one brother-in-law Joe Hooks of Harligen, Texas; two grandchildren, Michelle (Keith) Pennington and Eric (Robin) DeCrane; 12 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Wallace Curtis, Buel Curtis, Nelson Curtis, Gene Curtis, J.H. Curtis, and Jerry Curtis; two sisters, Euphelia Curtis and Lois Hooks; one brother-in-law, Joe Silverthorn; and one sister-in-law, Burlene Curtis.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 3, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery at Matthews, Missouri with full military honors.
