"She never met no stranger"
Peggy Falls of East Prairie, born 1938 to Ed Jones and Sadie Howton in Blodgett, lived in East Prairie, Dogwood, Anniston, Indiana, and the Los Angeles area.
Preceded in death by siblings Jim, Linda, Frankie, and Barbara; daughter Vicki Lynn and leaves behind brothers Bob, Adolph, grandson Michael, and son Bob.
The pretty redhead attended East Prairie High School, married Bob Summers of Cairo Ill. in 1957 and moved to Los Angeles where she helped raise two children and a grandchild.
Peggy briefly worked at Anchor Hocking, but built an admirable career at the Avery Dennison Company, while obtaining a cosmetology certificate from Citrus College.
Following retirement, Peggy returned home to East Prairie with Vicki and Michael, to be closer to Bob and Ruby and Adolph and Glenda, and saw Mike graduate from East Prairie High School.
Peggy built a second life for herself cutting hair, attending church in Dogwood, and growing vegetables in her yard. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sharing family history, and talking with friends and extended family.
She was a fierce and protective big sister, loyal friend, and generous neighbor. She was looked after in later years by close family including brothers Bob and wife Ruby, Adolph and wife Glenda, nephews Timmy, Tommy, and Robert and wife Debbie, and had a special relationship with niece Judy and her partner Kevin.
She cherished her "kids", especially the redheads, that included many nieces and nephews across multiple generations: Ronnie, Chuck, Robert, Thomas, Judy Kay, Timmy, Melinda, Martin, Joseph, Jennifer Heather, Kerri, Judy, Brandy, Julie, Ryder, Alayah, T.J., Casey, Lennon, Kevin, Jersey, Hannah, Carlie, Jalyn, Ben, Levi, Koralynn, Davin, Willow, Lanie, Montana, Connor, Alissa, Kensley, Esther, Jed, Arlo, Milo, Ramsey, Ruby Kate, Ryan, Willow, Hattie, Everett, Gunnar, Abby, Henry, James, Chaney and Jack.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 4, at 10 a.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Beth Allen, pastor of Dogwood United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Casey Jones, Levi Jones, Timmy Jones, Tommy Jones, Davin Patrick and Connor Williams.
