Obituary

Peggy Lee Benson, age 80 of East Prairie, MO, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

She was born January 21, 1944, in East Prairie, to the late William Raymond Brown and Mildred Lee Priest Brown.

Peggy was a homemaker who loved antiques. She was a bottle collector and made all of her own Christmas ornaments.  She was best known throughout Mississippi County for being an excellent seamstress.  Peggy attended Full Gospel Church in East Prairie for many years.

Peggy married Paul "JR" Benson in Mississippi County, and he survives of the home.

Also surviving is one son, Paul Glenn Benson (Kathy) of East Prairie; two very special grandchildren, Joleda Hall (Coy) and Jenni Mann (Ricky); a host of special great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her four brothers, Lionell Brown, William Lee Brown, Raymond Brown, and Larry Gene Brown..

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Shelby Funeral Home, with Bro. Martin Lucas officiating.

Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Coy Hall, Ricky Mann, David Bratton, Shon Presson, Shayne Presson, and Cody Douglas. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Byassee and Ronnie Byassee.
