Michael "Mickey" Wayne Westmoreland, son of the late Robert and Mary Westmoreland, was born on Monday June 20, 1949, in Sikeston, MO and departed this life on Saturday May 31, 2025, at the home in Carriere, MS at the age of 75 years 11 months and 11 days.
On August 10, 1968, he married the love of his life, the late Brenda Gail Westmoreland, who passed away July 16, 2024.
In 1968, Michael joined the Air Force and served until 1973 when he was honorably discharged. After the Air Force he started his career as a Crane Operator at Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid, MO where he made many friends who are now family. He remained at Noranda until his retirement in 2008.
Mickey never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. He loved his grandbabies, being sure to tell them daily that he loved them "a Lil bit, Lil bit, Whole lot, Whole lot!".
Mickey is survived by his daughter Mary Beth Westmoreland (Josh) of Carriere, MS; two sons, Jason Westmoreland (Ashley) of Carriere, MS and Michael S. Westmoreland (Ann) of Tucson, AZ; a sister, June Brimhall of Hayti, MO; a bonus daughter, Kacey Klingel of Vanduser, MO; and five grandchildren, Rilen Summers, Jaxson Westmoreland, Stevey Klingel, Dani Boese and Brayden Westmoreland; along with many family and friends. His only brother, Donnie Westmoreland of New Madrid, MO preceded him in death along with his two sisters, Ann Chamberlain and Barbara Matlock of Catron, MO.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12 noon at the Catron Baptist Church in Catron, MO, with Reverend Michael Buck officiating.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the MO State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Eric DeHart, Chris "Chippy" Porter, Calvin Kolwyck, Eric Branum. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Westmoreland and Rilen Summers.
