Obituary

Mary Ann (Estes) Spurlock age 92 passed away in the Lord's peace Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Mary Ann was born November 26, 1933 at her home on the Estes family farm north of Millersville, MO. She is the daughter of the late Jesse Robert Estes and Ollie Alice (Seabaugh) Estes.

She is preceded in death by her husband Delbert Leonard "Bud" Spurlock, one son Donald "Donnie" Wayne Spurlock, seven brothers, Harold M. Estes, Jesse R. "Junior" Estes, William M. "Bill" Estes, Kenneth L. Estes, Lloyd G. "Gene" Estes, DonaldR. Estes, and John P. "John Paul" Estes. She was the only girl with seven brothers on a large family farm but she always worked hard and held her own.

Mary Ann attended school at Jackson MO, then Southeast Missouri State Teachers College. Upon completion she went on to teach in a one room school in Kurreville, MO located in Cape Girardeau County.

She and Delbert Leonard "Bud" Spurlock were married in Millersville, MO August 28, 1955. Afterwards they relocated to Sikeston, MO and were married 60 happy years, raising 4 sons of their own along with her brother Donald's 4 children. Each child was loved and treated as her own.

Most of her time was devoted to raising a large family (8 children), but also found time to be active in the public school PTA her children attended, substitute teach, and volunteer as a Pink Lady at Missouri Delta Hospital. She loved flowers and working in her yard. Many times she could be found taking photographs of her flowers. Her home was the cornerstone of every family gathering. She was always happiest when her children and their families joined her. Mary Ann and Bud were active members of the Christian Motorcyclist Association and Gideon's International Organization. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston.

Mary Ann is survived by her children; Dennis & wife Marilyn (Neel) Spurlock of Sikeston, daughter in-law Cheryl (Wells) Spurlock, wife of the late Donald "Donnie" Wayne Spurlock of Texas, Darryl Spurlock of Jackson, MO, Dean Spurlock & wife Christine (Schwendemann) Spurlock of Sikeston, Jerry Estes of Pennsylvania, Susan (Estes) Brethold & husband Phillip Brethold of Marble Hill MO, Tom & wife Melissa (Shane) Estes of Pennsylvania, and Connor Winai Estes & wife Heather (Gilley) Estes of Alabama. She is also survived by grandchildren D. Logan Spurlock, Ben McMullin, Jesse Spurlock, Wesley Spurlock, Julia Spurlock, Payton Spurlock, Jessica (Brethold) Oliver & husband Jack, Cory Brethold & wife Jessica, Morgan Estes, Mandy Estes, Alex Estes, Sierra (Estes) Huber and husband Justin, Shane Estes, Tyson Estes, Tristan Estes, and Kaylee Estes. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon with grandson-in-law Jack Oliver officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Logan Spurlock, Jesse Spurlock, Wesley Spurlock, Payton Spurlock, Cory Brethold, Tyson Estes, and Alex Estes. Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Ben McMullin and Bob Parr.

Special thanks and appreciation goes to the care and support Mary Ann received by the staff of Westridge Place Memory Care and the medical staff of Missouri Delta Medical Center.
