Mary Ruth Mannon Duty, age 78, of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  She was born June 17, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late William Alford Mannon and Phyllis Jean Pierce Mannon.  She served as a teacher's aide "grandmother" for ten years at Doyle Elementary School in East Prairie.

On February 29, 1964, she married Clifford Dewayne Duty, who preceded her in death on September 3, 2012.

Mary was a member of Powerhouse Church in East Prairie.  She loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed reading, watching movies,  and being with her dogs, Samson, Hulk, Chocolate, Chico, Kye, and Zeus.

Survivors include one son, Lee Duty of East Prairie; one stepson, Terry (Christy) Duty of East Prairie; two daughters, Sherri (Randy) Shaver of Sikeston, Missouri and Christi Hodgkiss of East Prairie; three brothers, Roger (Janet) Mannon of Fisk, Missouri, Kenny Mannon of Wappapello, Missouri, and Dennis Mannon of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Wanda Parker of East Prairie and Patsy Schaffer of Illinois; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her grandmother, Linnie Duty; one son, Jerry Duty; one brother, Bill Mannon; two sisters, Sharon Brashears and Donna Jean Woods; two great grandsons, Rhett Harvey and Benjamin Carter; one sister-in-law, Donna Mannon; and one niece, Lynn Coen.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.  Bro. Jimmy Allen, pastor of Powerhouse Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Woods, Dustin Woods II, Levi Woods, Josh Harvey, Ben Carter, Nate Gladwell, and Aaron Garner.
