Mary Helen Cantrell, age 82 of Sikeston, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

She was born January 12, 1941, in Morehouse, MO., to the late Herschel and Margaret (Greer) Sloan and had worked as a nurse aide before retiring and was of the Baptist faith.

On June 28, 1969, in Morehouse, MO., she married Noel Ray Cantrell who preceded her in death.

She is survived by four sons, Noel (Sue) Cantrell of Sikeston, Danny Cantrell of St. Louis, Blaine Cantrell of Jefferson City, and Herschel (Beverly) Kennedy of Wappapello; five daughters Billie Heaton of Sikeston, Audrey Ward of Sikeston, Julia Hanak of St. Louis, Tresea Brashear of Sikeston, and Michelle (David) Kirkman of Sikeston; three brothers, Jimmie Sloan of Sikeston, Robert (Jackie) Sloan of Piedmont, and Steven (Ronda) Sloan of Sikeston; two sisters Ann Mullette of Montana, and Shirley Sloan of Sikeston; and 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers Edward, Herschel Dale, and Claude Sloan; one sister Peggy Sloan, two grandchildren Dustan Heaton and Courtney Kennedy.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Glen Cantrell Officiating.

Interment will follow at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
