Obituary

Mark Fausett, age 69, passed away on April 1, 2026, after a strong and courageous fight against cancer.

He was born on February 12, 1957, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Wilma Lee Fausett Owen and Charles David Fausett Sr.

Mark married Kathy Carnell on July 2, 1982. Though they later separated, they remained an important part of each other's lives and shared a lasting friendship. Together they had one daughter, Charly. One of Mark's greatest joys was becoming a grandfather to Remley Kate, who lovingly gave him the name "Blah Blah."

He was part of the Sikeston High School class of 1975. Throughout his life, Mark built meaningful relationships through both his work and volunteer efforts. He founded Cape County Lawn Service in 1984 and Majestic Retaining Walls and Pools in 1985, creating many beautiful structures across Southeast Missouri, including work associated with the Cape Bridge Memorial.

Mark had a deep passion for serving others. He dedicated many years to the SEMO District Fair Board and most recently spent over a decade volunteering at Pirates Cove Marina in Kentucky.

He was a lifelong lover of the lake, beginning at Wappapello Lake in his early years and later making Kentucky Lake a special place he cherished. Mark enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, including boating, fishing, biking, water and snow skiing, roller skating, hunting, four-wheeling, gardening, landscaping, and listening to classic rock. He had a natural curiosity and a gift for teaching himself new skills, often mastering whatever he set his mind to.

Mark will be remembered for his laid-back spirit and the many photos of him relaxing with his feet kicked up on a porch railing, no matter where he was. His family finds comfort in imagining him now, at peace, with his feet up on a beautiful porch in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma Lee Fausett Owen and Charles David Fausett Sr., and his stepfather, Calvin Owen.

He is survived by his former wife, Kathy Fausett of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his daughter, Charly (Jesse) Essner, and granddaughter, Remley Kate ("Blee") Essner, all of Tontitown, Arkansas; his brother, David (Regina) Fausett of Bartlett, Tennessee; his nephew, Michael (April) Carnell of Jackson, Missouri, who was like a son to him; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark's family is especially grateful for the extra time they were able to spend with him while he received treatment in Arkansas. Those moments will be cherished always.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Missouri. Funeral services will take place Friday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Pastor Glen Cantrell will be officiating the services.

Interment will be at Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mark's honor to Hope Cancer Center in Springdale, Arkansas. Donations may be made through their website or by mailing a check to: 5835 W Sunset Ave, Springdale, AR 72762.
