Obituary

Mackie Ray "Mack" Wheetley age 77, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home in Sikeston, MO.

On April 13, 1947, in Corning, AR he was born to the late Edward and Becky Payne Wheetley.

He married Brenda Kay Middleton on June 24, 1967, at the Portageville Assembly of God in Portageville, MO.

Mack served in the United States Army during Vietnam where he was Seargent. When he left the Army, he owned and operated Wheetley's Auto Repair for thirty years. After his retirement, Mack enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, and tinkering with small engines. Not to mention the love he had for his grand-dogs: Zeus, Elenore, and Millie.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Sherrie (Anthony) Odum of Pace, FL; three brothers, Don Wheetley of Sikeston, MO, Jim (Sheila) Wheetley of Claremore, OK, and Edd (Mae) Wheetley of Farmington, MO; one sister, Pat (Roger) Burns of Sikeston, MO, and two granddaughters, Sophie and Rhylee Odum of Pace, FL.

Including his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Wheetley and Earl B Wheetley.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Lacey of Trinity Gospel Church in Sikeston, MO. will officiate.

Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Adams, James Thurmon, Terry Moore, Anthony Odum, Dennis Snider, and Jimmy Burch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Woods and Steve Alexander.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 28566 St. Louis, MO. 63146.

Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston, MO. is in charge of arrangements.
