Mable Leora Holmes, age 91, passed away June 18, 2023 at Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

She was born July 31, 1931 in Tennessee, daughter of the late James David and Carrie Carlyle Western.

Mable had worked as a cook for Shoney's before retiring. She loved her grandchildren, who were her world, and she enjoyed cooking and playing Rummy and Bingo.

In addition to her parents, Mable was preceded in death by one daughter Sharon Ballew; nine brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by one son, David Holmes of Bement, Missouri; one sister, Burma Baker of Jackson, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michelle Reis of Wappapello, Missouri, and Tammy (Tony) Beeson and Josh (Sarah) Holmes both of Sikeston, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Trent (Bethany) Beeson, Courtney Kidd, Lucas King, Tyson Holmes, Kylie Holmes, Matt Ballew, Bryan Childrens, and Haley Robinson; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Abigayle and Charli Childers, Madison, Mason and Kayden Ballew, and Sirus and Elias Robinson.

Private interment will be held at the Dogwood Cemetery.

The family will conduct a memorial service for celebration of life at the Sikeston Eagles on Saturday, August 26th, 2023.
