Louie Dotson Griffin, Jr., age 75, passed away March 26, 2024, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.
He was born August 23, 1948, in Osceola, AR, son of the late Louie Dotson Griffin, Sr. and Reberta Georgia Grimes-Griffin.
Louie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge #310, Shriners of Sikeston, and Scottish Rite. He had worked as an insurance agent before retiring. He had a tender heart to give, he worked for free during the floods and just wanted to help people.
He married Lavern Hopkins-Griffin on September 15, 1979, she survives of the home in Sikeston, MO.
Other survivors include two daughters, Tonja (Clarence) Laws of New Madrid, MO and Sarah Griffin of Sikeston, MO; one brother, Larry (Iva) Griffin of Nixa, MO; five grandchildren, Quinn Stallings, Jamie Williams, Jodie Williams, Aaron Williams, and Katie Womack; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Louie was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Griffin; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Griffin-Brown and Gloria Griffin-Smith.
Services will be at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Nick Uthoff, Daniel Uthoff, Terry Bunting, Kevin Brown, Matthew Hodges, Chris Shanle, Lindarreis Thomas and Linard Thomas.
Honorary pallbearer is Grant Smith.
