Lonnie Eugene Masters, age 81, passed away December 22, 2023 at his home in Sikeston, MO.
He was born November 19, 1942 in Sikeston, son of the late Everett Masters and Cora Harbison Masters.
Lonnie was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, attended every shooting match in Southeast Missouri, and a lifelong member of Sikeston Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, shooting matches, and camping. He was a supervisor for 35 years for Sonny's Solid Waste and Tri County Transfer. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, all of his family and especially his grandchildren.
He was married for 28 years to Margaret Masters Green, she survives of Oran, MO.
Other survivors include one son, Keith Masters of Morley, MO; one daughter, Diana Lynn Whitis of Oran, MO; one brother, Everett Masters of Marble Hill, MO; two sisters, Corene Harnish of Marion, IL and Caroline Hunt of Corpus Christi, TX; seven grandchildren, Amy (Troy) Polander, Bradley (Sara) Breedlove, Tyler (Alexis) Masters, Katlyn (Cameron Lester) Masters, Gene Masters III, Hannah Masters, and Ben Masters; twelve great-grandchildren, Khelan Silman, Leighla Silman, C.J. Lester, Ava Masters, Oakley Masters, Sawyer Kempfer, Emily Siegal, Samantha Siegal, Shane Breedlove, London Breedlove, Dillon Cross, and Jake Cross.
In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by one son, Gene Masters Jr.; two brothers, Babe Masters and Frank Masters; three sisters, Connie Foster, Virginia Worley, and Barbara Leegate; and a lifelong friend like a brother, Sonny Glaus.
There will be a visitation held Friday, January 5, 2024, from 12:00 noon until time of memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. Father Colby will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Masters, Alan Hopper, Trace Glaus, Mike Glaus, David Glaus, Trey Glaus, and Wesley Glaus.
