May 2, 1926 – January 15, 2024
Logan Elmo Wolford, age 97, a resident of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at Bertrand Nursing Center in Bertrand, Missouri. He was born May 2, 1926, in Savannah, Tennessee, to the late Morris Wolford and Ethel Mae Caperton Wolford. The family moved to Dorena, Missouri, where Logan was raised. He served in the United States Army, and later became a farmer and heavy equipment operator. He loved hunting and fishing, running his bulldozer, and was known to be quite the story-teller. Logan became a member of the former Dorena Baptist Church.
He was married to Evelyn Sutton Wolford, who preceded him in death July 1, 1983.
Survivors include three sons, Clifton (Donna Jo) Wolford of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Denver (Cheryl) Wolford of Matthews, Missouri and Darryl (Katrina) Wolford of East Prairie; one daughter, Paula June Elliott of East Prairie; one brother, Kenneth Wolford of Benton, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Tyler (Ivy) Wolford of Matthews, Mindy (Brian) Fisk of Sikeston, Missouri, Kara (Roy) Shaw of East Prairie, Jason (Melinda) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Kaison Wolford of East Prairie, Kiara Alvarado of East Prairie, Yancy (Kelli) Carden of East Prairie, Michele (Ivan) Jones of East Prairie; and Clinton Wolford of Cape Girardeau; 17 great grandchildren; and one soon-to-be great-great grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, Logan was preceded in death by one son, Steven Wolford; and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 21, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Bro. Jon Archie officiating.
Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Wolford, Clayton Parker, Dylan Brown, Jason Brown, Roy Shaw and Albert Duenne.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Wolford, Ivan Jones and Brian Fisk.
