Linnie M. Holmes, age 91, passed away August 27, 2024 at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

She was born October 26, 1932 in Reel Foot Lake, TN, daughter of the late Tennie Quinn and Cora Miller Quinn.

Linnie was a member of The Sanctuary United Pentecostal Church, she loved church, and had owned and operated Holmes Grocery Store in East Prairie, MO with her husband and then at Sikeston Kindergarten as a grandparent for 14 years.

She loved church, liked to shop, and was a sweet mom. She enjoyed her shows, especially watching Golden Girls and Wheel of Fortune. She loved her kids and grandkids, everyone loved her.

On September 29, 1947 at Union City, TN she was married to Thomas E. Holmes, he preceded her in death July 5, 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Demetria Ryan of Conroe, TX and Melody (Mike) Prino of Jackson, MO; six grandchildren, Jessica Prino, Jonathan Prino, Jeremy Prino, Brian Dye, Jodie Fuller, and Marty Lee; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Linnie was preceded in death by one son, Georgie Holmes; two daughters, Brenda Hanner and Glenda Holmes; three sisters; one brother; and one grandson, Norman L. Travis Jr.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 31st , from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary United Pentecostal Church, 1506 N. Main Street, Sikeston, MO. Rev. Dennis E. Breland and Rev. Jay Teague will be officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Prino, Jeremy Prino, Brian Dye, Marty Lee, Spencer Trankler, and Caden Dye.
