K9 Rex
Michael Juden
December 1, 2014 – January 4, 2025
K9 Rex Michael Juden, a cherished and dedicated member of the Scott County Sheriff's Office, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025. Born with an innate sense of duty and loyalty, Rex embarked on his noble career in 2015, proudly serving as a vital part of the K-9 unit until his well-deserved retirement in 2022.
Throughout his commendable service, Rex was instrumental in the success of numerous operations, playing a key role in the location of illicit substances and the closure of hundreds of narcotics cases across Scott County and neighboring areas. His extraordinary skills in narcotics detection, handler protection, and fugitive tracking and apprehension were honed under the expert guidance of Mike Ervin at Riverview Canine.
Rex's talents extended beyond local law enforcement; he also contributed to the United States Marshal Service Heartland Fugitive Task Force, helping to locate and apprehend wanted suspects. His unwavering dedication and friendly demeanor endeared him to all who had the pleasure of working with him. Rex truly never met a stranger, and his love for his work was evident to everyone around him.
In retirement, Rex enjoyed his days running freely on the farm, relishing in the simple joys of life like chewing on his beloved Kong toy. He lived a full and joyous life, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Though Rex has left this world, his spirit and contributions live on in the hearts of those who knew him. We will always remember him not just as a colleague, but as a beloved friend who truly made a difference. Rest in peace, dear Rex. You will never be forgotten.
Private services for Law Enforcement only will be held at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO.
