Joyce Kay Scruggs, age 72, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026, at her home in East Prairie, MO.  She was born August 8, 1953, in Wyatt, MO, to the late Jesse Lee Davis and Letha Mae Littrell Davis.  She retired following thirty-five plus years of service with the East Prairie Head Start program and was a member of the Church of God in East Prairie.  Joyce was known as a caregiver to all.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.

On February 8, 1974, in East Prairie, she married Dwight E. Scruggs, who survives of the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Jamey (Kelly) Scruggs of Paducah, KY; one daughter, Abby (Fred) Warnhoff of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Bill (Alberta) Davis of East Prairie; and one sister, Pam (Jeff) Williams of East Prairie.  Also surviving are five special grandchildren, Haley (Jay) Austin, Haden (Adison) Scruggs, Rylie Williams, Rhyan Warnhoff and Elliott Warnhoff.

Preceding Joyce in death were her parents; and two brothers, Jerry Davis and Gary Davis.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in East Prairie, with Dawn Walters, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Toby Scruggs, Steve Jones, Jerry Morris, Gary Harper, Stephen Bough, and Johnny Henderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Lay and Joe Oliver, who were close friends of both Joyce and her late brother, Jerry Davis.

Memorial contributions may be made to:  First Church of God, 322 N. Washington, East Prairie, MO  63845, and can be designated for the funeral dinner fund, church food bank, or children's programs.
