Obituary

Josephine Annette "Jo Anne" Wolford, age 82 of Tamms, Illinois, passed away at her home Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was born February 1, 1941, in Anniston, Missouri, to the late Charles Donald Ahlfield and Mary Josephine Cherry Ahlfield. She was a homemaker and faithful member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where she served as church organist for many years. She also was a longtime member of Sweet Adelines International, Cape Girardeau Chapter, which is a group of talented women who enjoy "barbershop style" singing. They share their love of music with others around the world and help to give opportunities to many young women in the field of music. In earlier years Jo Anne combined her musical talents with her husband Wilbert by serving as pianist with Wolford Brothers and Wolford Family gospel groups.

She was married to Wilbert Dale Wolford, who preceded her in death on May 23, 2021.

Survivors include one son, Tony Wolford of Olive Branch, Illinois; one daughter, Cherry J. Ray of Cache, Illinois; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death her parents and husband; and one brother, Victor Ahlfield.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023, beginning at 12 noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Clint Naile officiating.

Interment will follow in Anniston Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Adam Smithey, Gage Wolford, Dane Weibrecht, Kaleb Weibrecht, Holden Storz and Pierce Weibrecht.
