Joann Simpkins, age 82 of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at her home.  She was born December 5, 1939, in Anniston, Missouri, to the late Robert Lemons and Pearl Davis Lemons.  She had worked as a bookkeeper and riverboat cook, as well as catering.  She also assisted her husband on the family farm. Joann was a member of Powerhouse of God Church in East Prairie.  She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and cooking for all those she loved.  Her greatest joy was taking care of her family.

On September 27, 1985, she married Carl Simpkins, Sr., who preceded her in death July 9, 2006.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patricia Morgan of the home; one sister, Mavis June Lawrence of Red Bud, Illinois; grandchildren, R.C. Strand and his wife Lauren of Festus, Missouri and Stephanie Morgan of East Prairie; great grandchildren, Ryan, Landry and Lyla Strand of Festus, and Suzzette Elizabeth Morgan of East Prairie; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joann was preceded in death by her son, Steven D. Morgan; her daughter, Suzzette Morgan; two brothers, Harold Lemons and Charles Lemons; and two sisters, Maxine Haney and Barbara Green.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Pastors Jimmy and Tami Allen of Powerhouse of God Church officiating.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be R.C. Strand, Ryan Strand, Jimmy Allen, Jr., Dustin Allen, Cole Brannan and Jason Looney.
