Sikeston, MO - Jimmy "Jim" Dale Gooch, son of the late William Lloyd Gooch and Mable Thompson-Gooch, was born on September 20, 1947 in Sikeston, MO.
He departed this life on Thursday, May 7, 2026 peacefully at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Sikeston High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Missouri with a Major in Marketing.
Jim and his dad started Sikeston Seed where he operated for 35 years. Producing, processing and marketing commercial soybeans and wheat seed for both retail and wholesale markets. During that same period, he produced and marketed Gooch's Wild Bird Seed which was sold over five states. In 1990, Jim started Feeder's Supply in Sikeston, which is still in operation today.
Jim was an avid deer hunter, loved the outdoors and structured his business around archery, feed, seed, pets, and pet supplies.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston. Also a member of Sikeston Jaycees, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity-University of Missouri, and past board member of the Missouri Seed Improvement Association.
He married Gina Uhrhan in 2007, who survives of the home.
Along with his wife, survivors include one son, Jamie Gooch of Jackson, MO; one daughter, Stacie (Leo) Michaelis of Scottsdale, AZ; one step son, Austin (Sam) Uhrhan of Oran, MO; one step daughter, Chelsea (Eric Day) Uhrhan of Sikeston, MO; one grandson, Henry Michaelis; two granddaughters, Kathryn Michaelis and Amira Gooch; one step grandson, Ridge Uhrhan; and one nephew, Greg Gooch.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe Gooch.
Visitation will be held at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston on Friday, May 15, from 4:00 until time of memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
