Jewel "Pauline" Bryars Hale, age 81, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at her home in East Prairie, Missouri. She was born September 24, 1941, in Tywappity Two Township of Mississippi County, Missouri to the late Paul Lee Bryars and Esther Mae Fisher Bryars. She attended school at Rush Ridge near Wyatt, Missouri. Pauline had been employed for more than 20 years at East Prairie Manufacturing Company, and then went on to work at her and her husband's business, Hale Custom Farms. She loved going to yard sales and thrift stores, as well as fishing. She loved all of her family and enjoyed taking care of her many nieces and nephews. She was also a great storyteller and loved telling stories from the past.
On July 8, 1970, in Union City, Tennessee she married Carl "Donnie" Hale; he preceded her in death February 7, 2022. Donnie and Pauline spent many years building and working together and were the owners of Hale Custom Farms.
She and Donnie raised her sister, Connie Bryars Powers; a nephew, Jamie Powers, and two great nieces, Tyleigh Powers and Madison Powers. She devoted her life to being a mother and providing a life full of love.
Pauline is survived by one brother, Harold Wesley (Patricia) Bryars of Charleston; one sister, Connie Powers of East Prairie; three nephews, Jamie (Sabrina) Powers of East Prairie, Walter (Elisha) Bryars of East Prairie and Barry Paul Bryars of Sikeston; one niece, Marsha Loomes of East Prairie; six great nieces, Brittany Bryars, Brianna Mollice, Tyleigh Powers, Madison Powers, Kayleigh Green and Alivia Loomes; and five great nephews, Brandon (Logan) Patrick, Dustin (Connor) Bryars, Cody (Logan) Bryars, Mason Bryars and Paul Bryars.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Bryars and Walter Bryars.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2023, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Minister Jamie Powers officiating.
Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brianna Mollice, Tyleigh Powers, Madison Powers, Brittany Bryars, Kayleigh Green and Alivia Loomes.
