Obituary

Jerry Wayne Weems, age 72, formerly of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away July 19, 2021 at his home in Malden, Missouri.

He was born March 22, 1949 in Marston, Missouri, son of the late William Thomas Weems and Julie Mallie Carlyle Weems.

Jerry was a member of New Beginnings Christian Outlet in Malden and had worked as a certified welder for Hedrick.

On April 5, 1996 he married Peggy D. Williams Weems, she survives of the home in Malden.

Other survivors include three sons, Carl Rickman and William Sonnyman Hammer both of Malden and Joseph Keith (Kristy Steward) Rickman of Dexter, Missouri; four daughters, Teresa (Tom) Brodham of East Prairie, Carla Gail Everett of Blodgett, Missouri, Lisa Carletta (Mark) Shands and Betty Amanda 'Mandy' (Luke) Rhodes both of Sikeston; one brother, Gary Don (Ann) Weems of Russellville, Tennessee; one sister, Joanne (Mike) Cartwright of Matthews, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Kevin Bradley Hammer, Brian Woodrow Rickman, and Steven Lynn Rickman; five brothers, Junior Weems, Bill Weems, Jerome Weems, Michael Weems, and Roger Weems; and by a wife, Betty Jean Weems.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 26, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.  The Rev. Mike Cartwright, pastor of Canalou Assembly of God, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery at Dogwood, Missouri.
