Obituary

Jerry Wayne Tinnin, age 78, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at his home in East Prairie, MO.  He was born November 23, 1947, in rural Portageville, MO, to the late Amel Oscar Tinnin and Dorothy Mathews Tinnin.  He was talented enough to work on just about anything.  His family joked that he was the "Jerry" of all trades…master of none.  He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandkids.

On March 7, 1986, in East Prairie, he married Dorothy Gore, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry C. Tinnin and Joey Wayne Tinnin, both of Rockford, IL; three daughters, Kathy Leann (Jeff) Skelton of Sikeston, MO, Jessica Nicole (Chris) West of East Prairie, and Suzette Nicole (Walter) Edge of Rockford, IL; one brother, Joe Tinnin of Sikeston, MO; two sisters, Ermine Workman of Sikeston, MO and Robin Stanley of Jackson, MO; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Phelps, Macie Nicole Patrick, Riley Patrick, and Luke Patrick; seven great grandsons; and his mother-in-law, Imogene Gore, who survives of the home.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one grandson, Tray Phelps; one sister, Anna Tinnin; and one son-in-law, Paul Patrick.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Larry Kirby officiating.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Riley Patrick, Luke Patrick, Chris West, Don Tinnin, Zach Stevenson, and Devon Tyler.  Honorary pallbearer will be Noah Phelps.
