Jeanette
Parker
September 9, 1944 – September 8, 2021
Jeanette Parker, age 76, passed away September 8, 2021 at Missouri Baptist
Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri due to complications from Covid.
Even though Jeanette was vaccinated, she contracted the virus and could
not win the fight since she was immunocompromised from cancer
treatments.
Jeanette was born September 9, 1944 in Bonifay, Florida, daughter of the
late Juanita Carter Hover. She grew up with many aunts and uncles who
also became long time friends. Jeanette has been a Sikeston resident for
over 45 years and is where she married Howard R. Parker, Sr. on January
12th, 1980. He survives and remains at their home in Sikeston.
Other survivors include one son, Robert (Karie) Mullins (Parker, Jackson
and Jayden) of Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Pamela (Ed) Cassidy
(Oakley & Kayla-Jackson, Savanna and Hailey) of Ballwin, Missouri and
Valerie (Doug) Paris (Sierra, Sydney J, Kai and Seneca) of Ventura,
California; one stepson, Howard S. (Michelle) Parker (Steven, Natalie and
Christian) of Sikeston; one half-sister, Mary Pilgrim of Youngstown,
Florida.
Jeanette was a pharmacy technician for Osco, Super D and then Walmart
before retiring. She was a member of Tanner Street Church of God, once
serving as the Director of the Senior Ministry. Jeanette enjoyed coffee in
the morning, shopping, playing games and gardening. She was known for
having a collection of hats and frequently changing her hairstyle. Jeanette's
favorite thing to do was be with her family. Lovingly known as Nana, she
was able to be with each of her 13 grandchildren at the time of their birth
and for many years of special occasions such as graduations, games, recitals
and parties. We all feel lucky to have been spoiled and loved by her.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 15, from 11:00 a.m. until
time of services at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev.
Georg Karl will officiate.
