James Earl McCants, age 68, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at his home in Bertrand, MO.
On June 17, 1955 in St. Louis, MO. he was born to the late Albert and Gretha Marlin McCants.
On March 14, 1996 in Benton, MO. he married Betti Snipes McCants who survives of the home.
James was of the Christian faith.
He had been a Corrections Officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections in Charleston, MO. before his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jaime Rose McCants of Bertrand, MO; One son Clay and Cherry Graviett of Vanduser, MO; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dean King; one sister, Mary Freeman, and one son Scotty McCants and one daughter Kim Graviett
James was an avid member of the Semo R/C Flyers, Sikeston Eagles Aerie # 3319, and the War Child Motorcycle group out of Chaffee, MO.
He loved spending time with his best friend and brother, Earl Bohnert fishing and riding motorcycles.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO, with Pastor Austin Maxwell officiating.
Interment will be in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
Pallbearers will be: Tanner Chronister, Ashton McCants, Earl Bohnert, Justin Hawkins, Tommy Burton and John Smith.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to: The American Heart Association,, 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX. 75231 .
