James Howard Brewer, age 95, of Sikeston, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Delta South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sikeston.  He was born July 24, 1928, in Ridgley, Tennessee to the late Porter C. Brewer and Janie Mayrene Hornbeck Brewer, and was employed by Malone & Hyde Co. (Fleming) in Sikeston for over 27 years.  He was of Pentecostal faith.

On September 13, 1949, in Widener, Arkansas he married Luthell Dees, who preceded him in death April 15, 2009.

Survivors include five children, Porter Edward (Sherry) Brewer of Jackson, Missouri, Brenda Kay Strebler of Sikeston, Barbara Ann Razer of Sikeston, Becky (Ivan) Aldridge of Williamsville, Missouri and LaDonna (Jerry) Corbin of Sikeston; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Brewer; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and all seven of his siblings.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, with Austin Maxwell officiating.

Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Chris Brewer, Jason Aldridge, Jared Aldridge, Michael Eftink, Matt Strebler and Alex Hedrick.
