On Monday, November 18, 2024, James Robert (Bob) Patterson of Sikeston, MO passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Bob was born on January 17, 1930 to MaryBelle Gaddy Patterson and James Floyd Patterson in Caruthersville, Missouri. His grandfather, John D Gaddy was a major inspiration to Bob encouraging him to pursue a career in engineering and after he married his high school sweetheart, Martha Lou Johnson, in 1949, he attended the University of Missouri, Rolla, graduating with a degree in civil engineering in 1954. Immediately upon graduation Bob served as a field engineer in the Army for two years in New Mexico and Texas. Bob then worked for several firms, including R.B. Potashnick and Ray Clinton Construction Companies before starting his own business, Show-Me Rental Land Inc. and Beaver Janitorial Supply.

Over the years Bob was very involved with the alumni association at UMR, serving as president for several years and working as a member of the University of Missouri System Board. Bob was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, helping out in many ways, including serving as deacon and as a member of the Finance committee. Bob and Martha loved to travel, visiting countries from Spain to China and England to Chile. They were in awe at the beauty of the world that God has made.

Bob was predeceased by his only sister, Betty Jo Thompson. He is survived by Martha, his wife of 75 years and their two daughters, Cathy Coronado (Rick) and Karen Schade, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, November 22 at the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, 1101 N. Main, with visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 followed by the funeral.
