Jack L. Britt, son of the late Calvin and Mae Britt of East Prairie, MO, was born November 13, 1932 at 34 Corners, MO, and passed through the gates of Heaven on January 31, 2026 in his home at the age of 93 with loved ones around him.
Jack married Frances M. Powers on September 3, 1952 in Pocahontas, AR. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2020 at their home.
Survivors include their three children, Mike (Barbara) Britt of Excelsior Springs, MO, Cynthia (Tony) Cantrell of Wickliffe, KY, and Tim (Elaine) Britt of Montgomery, AL; six grandchildren, Laura Ninneman, Lee Britt, T.C. Cantrell, J.R. Cantrell, Bryan Britt, and Kevin Britt; six great-grandchildren, Venice Cherrito, Addie Ninneman, Savara Cantrell, Nick Cantrell, Nora Cantrell, and Lumen Britt; and three brothers, Larry (Shirley) Britt, Jerry Britt, and Corky Britt.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters, William Lee Britt, Burl Britt, Pete Britt, Kathryn Stockman, Earline Bell, Edith Denton, and Edna Couch.
Jack grew up on a farm in 34 Corners, MO and loved to still visit the old home place on a weekly basis. Jack was a Korean War Veteran and had proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Gurkie until he was honorably discharged October 22, 1954. He then returned to join his beloved wife in East Prairie, MO. Jack attended Barber College in St. Louis, MO and upon graduating they returned to live in Sikeston, MO where he barbered until 2015 when he retired.
Jack's hobbies were fishing, playing with his grandkids and great-grandson, attending ballgames so he could heckle the umpires, picking pecans, and giving free advice. Jack loved to hear the word of God and was an active member of Bethel Missionary Baptist of Sikeston, MO.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 9, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, MO. the celebration of life will be officiated by Bro. Daniel Fraser, former pastor to Jack, from Victory Baptist in Wickliffe, KY and Bro. Billy Davis of Bethel Missionary Baptist of Sikeston, MO.
A private interment will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
Pallbearers will be T.C. Cantrell, J.R. Cantrell, Nick Cantrell, Rodney Britt, Chris Britt, and Anthony Meadows.
