Mary "Halene" DeLeon, age 109, formerly of East Prairie, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Delta South Nursing Center in Sikeston, MO.

She was born October 18, 1916, in Anniston, MO to the late Charles Andy Calhoon and Hattie Mae Calhoon and had retired after 32 years of service at Brown Shoe Company in Charleston, MO.

Halene was a member of the First Christian Church of East Prairie. She enjoyed crocheting and loved to travel. She was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society.

On January 18, 1934, in New Madrid, MO she was married to Clifton Harold DeLeon, who preceded her in death June 7, 1969.

Halene is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Golder "Bud" Calhoon, Thurman Andy Calhoon, and Billy Houston Calhoon; four sisters, Bertie Colene Oliver, Grace Unita Sanders, Frances Nadine Houser, and Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Wicker; and a special niece who was like a daughter to her, Janet Halene Lambert.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the First Christian Church in East Prairie. Pastor Martin Lucas will officiate, assisted by associate pastor Jacob Allred.

Interment will follow in Anniston City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chad Ray, Brent Munson, Shane Wicker, Adam Wicker, Brian Ivan Jones, and Charles Wayne Thurman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Givens, Mickey Lay, Milas Mainord, Duke Presson, and Tommy Loomas.

Services were entrusted to Caudle-Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie.
