Obituary

George Martin Lancater, age 81, passed away September 17, 2024, at his home in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was born August 7, 1943, in Sikeston, MO, son of the late Vernon Lancaster and Ruby Downs Lancaster.

Martin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lilbourn in Lilbourn, MO. He was an employee for many years at the Community Sheltered Workshop in Sikeston and VIP Industries in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He had a special place in his heart for animals especially horses. His favorite thing to do was go to the rodeo. He and his siblings enjoyed going to the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel rodeo together.

Martin also enjoyed watching westerns on tv.

Survivors include three sisters, Margie Colaric of Coal City, IL, Frances (Gary) Baker of Harvielle, MO, and Brenda (Tom) Maschmeyer of Memphis, TN.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry C Lancaster and Norman Earl Lancaster; and two brother-in-laws, Bud Scott and Jerry Colaric.

A visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO, a funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Gene Lancaster will be officiating the service.

Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid, MO.

Pallbearers will be Gary Baker, Rick Scott, Tom Maschmeyer, Larry Lancaster, Jason Baker, and Luke Maschmeyer.

The family wants to thank Firefly Supported Living and Employment Services, St. Francis Hospital, and St. Francis Hospice for their exceptional care of their brother.
