Gayle Lynn Childs, age 72, passed away October 8, 2024 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.

She was born August 30, 1952 in Sikeston, MO, daughter of the late Donnie Darrell Vent and Velda Lee Duncan Irvin.

Gayle had worked in management for Food Giant and had been Morehouse City Clerk, a job she loved. She worked very hard to improve the city of Morehouse.  She was a smart, funny, and very intelligent woman and was a fantastic mother and grandmother.  Her favorite hobby was crafting.

On May 29, 1970 she married Raymond Powell Childs. He survives of the home in Morehouse, MO.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Turner of Benton, MO and Stephanie Baughn of Wentzville, MO; one brother, Donnie (Cathy) Vent of Jonesboro, AR; one sister, Sherri (Phil) Kerr of Dardenne Prairie, MO; one grandchild, Madison Baughn; and a lot of loving friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffery Vent; and one son-in-law, Aaron Baughn.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 14, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at 12 noon at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
