Edith Mae Jenkins, age 77, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri.  She was born December 11, 1945, in New Madrid, Missouri, to the late Ezra Jenkins and Rosa Smith Jenkins.  Raised in New Madrid, she left the area as a young adult, moving to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she began her 41-year career working for Bell South.  She was of Catholic faith.

Edith is survived by two brothers, Robert (BeBe) Jenkins of Oak Ridge, Missouri and Bobby Joe Jenkins, address unknown; two sisters, Shirley Burks of Bloomfield, Missouri and Nancy Spurlock of Scott City, Missouri; cousin, Susan (Steve) Resendez of New Orleans; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Charlotte Jaco and Mary Ann Griffith.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Missouri. Bro. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.
