Earl Eugene Burns, age 83, passed away March 26, 2024 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO.

He was born April 2, 1940 in Carlisle County, IL, son of the late Thomas Final Burns and Ethel Gertrude Hawkins-Burns.

He was a member of Smith Avenue Church of God and had worked for General Motors before retiring.  He enjoyed family time, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On October 16, 1965 in Aurora, IL he married Ruth Ann Kirby-Burns, she survives of the home in Sikeston, MO.

He is also survived by one son, Michael Burns of Sikeston; one brother, Roger Burns of Sikeston; one sister, Darlene Abegg of Godrey, IL; three grandsons, Austin Burns, Lucas Burns, and Joshua Burns; and four great-grandsons, Arian Burns, Kota Burns, Clayo Burns, and Killian Burns; and one great-granddaughter, Maggie Ann Burns.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Diehlstadt Baptist Church, under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Burns, Austin Burns, Luke Burns, Josh Burns, Dennis Burns, and Jesse McGee.
